Javi Moncayo

I am a results-driven software professional with a strong focus on problem-solving and collaborative working. I can balance my technical expertise with my excellent communication skills to the advantage of any company.

I am fully proficient in Python (Flask, Django), Data analytics (Apache Superset, Apache Kafka, …), ML& AI (Keras, TensorFlow, NLP, …), SQL, C/C++, PHP, JavaScript (VUE, React, Svelte, …), etc.

I have a special interest in Big Data and scaling infrastructure. I enjoy challenging myself and I am adept at solving problems with creative solutions.

Over the last few years I have done many different things! The main common denominator to all of them is a technical and personal challenge to each of my current or previous roles.

CEO/CTO Suments

As CEO/CTO at Suments Data, I wear two hats!
On the CEO side, I focus on building strong relationships with investors, clients, and partners, while making sure our presence at industry events is impactful.

On the CTO side, I’m responsible for the architecture and technology behind our cloud-based, data-driven cybersecurity solutions. I lead our efforts in cloud design, data science, and CI/CD infrastructure. Whether it’s working with Docker, managing bare-metal servers, or implementing AI/ML solutions, I’m always looking to push the boundaries and keep Suments at the cutting edge.

Senior Applications Engineer

Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK

During my time at this role, I served as the Person of Contact (PoC) between Qualcomm and tier 1 customers, collaborating daily with executives from both Qualcomm and global organizations to bring Bluetooth headset products to market efficiently, taking part in trade shows like MWC and CES.

My role involved hands-on work with hardware design, PCB, embedded software in C/ASM, and complex system architectures. I also developed Python scripts for debugging and automation. This experience sparked my interest in team management, where I began designing and implementing workflows across multidisciplinary teams, blending technical expertise with leadership.

Applications Engineer

Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK

I worked closely with tier 2/3 customers, focusing primarily on debugging embedded systems, with a strong expertise in Bluetooth audio products. I was responsible for identifying the root cause of factory-blocking issues and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to find solutions and unblock the project.

My day-to-day involved troubleshooting complex embedded architectures, collaborating with teams to resolve issues, and streamlining the product development cycle to meet launch deadlines.

Full Stack Developer

Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK

As a Full-Stack Developer in my first job after university, I worked on web-based software development using PHP, SQL, Java, CSS, and HTML, with frameworks like Zend, CodeIgniter (2.x-3.x). I was part of a dynamic software team, collaborating on sprints to achieve project milestones. This role gave me my first exposure to cloud environments and web-based technologies, laying the foundation for my future in tech.

Embebed system design, embded C, PIC microcontrollers

Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK

This year-long project resulted in a multi-microcontroller system focused on motor control, positioning, and user interface as a Proof of Concept (PoC) for an ELISA blood analysis device

I design & developed a PoC device for preparing ELISA (a type of blood test) solutions for a clinical laboratory. This robot was designed to automate the sample preparation for ELISA analysis. It utilized an embedded system based on PIC microcontrollers (using C and MPLAB), along with optical sensors, an LCD display, motor control for motion requirements, and pump control for liquid management.

I was part of a team working on a Proof of Concept (PoC) for a PhD thesis, where my role involved implementing systems to integrate data from 3D scanners. We aimed to create ‘game-like’ environments of the scanned areas, allowing us to accurately position individuals detected by infrared and color cameras.

Matlab software development for computer vision and hardware design for a mobile robot.

Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK

Arduino based project to build a mobile robot equipped with an IP camera, featuring computer vision capabilities to track various objects. We leveraged Arduino for motion requirements and motor control, and used MATLAB for image processing, enabling the robot to identify and follow objects like human faces, balls, and lines.
